Hello Sunshine

Well, I've been a bit quiet this month. Only one challenge completed so far, and not even an online challenge. My scrappy mojo has disappeared :(

A couple of weeks ago my scrap buddy, Karen, came and done a workshop for a few of us. She supplied us with the Bo Bunny 'Hello Sunshine' papers and had created a fabulous (as usual) layout for us. As we had plenty of paper left over, she challenged us to create a page using the leftovers and upload them to her facebook page by the end of the month and she will draw a random winner.

So, as I have nothing else to share and it seems like ages since my last post, I thought I would share it with you today.

Again another page of my beautiful niece Emilee, not looking very happy, but not every pic is going to be perfect, hey?!

In this layout I've used of course the Bo Bunny papers, Lily Bee Design alphas, AC thickers and Tim Holtz word stickers. A WOW heart banner cut into two pieces, a Purple Pumpkin button and A Lil' Somethin' pin. Pearls and twine completed it. Also used a butterfly punch and the new Lattice bigshot die from Stampin' Up!

Black with 2 challenge

Have been loving the Black with 2 challenges! I don't usually use black as a base, but I've been noticing how well it makes the other colours pop and I really like it!

Anyhow, this months requirements were -

Dominant black background with Purple & Mint green ...plus 5% white if desired 

- this is my interpretation -

I really love this page! Not sure if i'd really call this mint green or not, but it's the closest I could manage.

Yes I've used another quote from Grease, not really sure what this thing is with Grease quotes (well it's only two, but I'm thinking maybe I could come up with a couple more - who doesn't love Grease?!), it's not like I've seen it recently, maybe a couple years ago. Maybe it's telling me it's time to watch it again! I've always liked hearing Marty Maraschino saying 'Don't you think they make me look smarter?'  (and Rizzos reply - 'Nah, ya can still see ya face!' - but didn't like to use it on my LO, haha) So when I came across this pic of my stepdaughter wearing her glasses I knew straight away what my title would be!

On this page I have used petite resin roses and the butterfly centre in my flower from D-Lish Scraps, I actually have a flower quite similar from D-Lish but what was in the centre of that didn't work for me on this LO, so I made my own. I also used a mint green button from A Lil' Somethin'.

Purple Pumpkin Challenge

I've never done a challenge at Purple Pumpkin before but have an ever growing stash of their awesome products and really liked the look of this sketch so I decided to play along.

This is my second LO from this sketch, wasn't happy with the first one, so stuck it away in my album and tried again - much happier!! This is how it turned out

Love this photo of my beautiful little niece, Emilee. Can see the rays of sunshine down over her face.

I have used a total of nine Purple Pumpkin products on my page - two types of washi tape, two heart buttons, a felt heart, the red flowery type button, a black resin flower, a ticket strip and a white doily that i cut up to use as my banner.

Stuck?! Sketches challenge #2

This is the second challenge over at Stuck?! Sketches this month

It had me playing for a little while...plain background and patterned squares, patterned background and plain squares, even thought of using four square photos, but in the end I went for the middle choice.

Love this kraft clouds paper by echo park, I love kraft anyhow and flat bottomed clouds are just so cute! I have used a journalling spot and petite resin rose from D-Lish Scraps, a ticket strip and a button top round from Purple Pumpkin and a butterfly pin from A Lil' Somethin'.

SFS challenge

Today I have another challenge to share with you, I think I might be a challenge junkie, LOL?! Do you agree?

Anyhow, today it's for the quote challenge over at Scrapbooking From Scratch. The quote was 'Life is better when you're laughing'. The sample was done by Charm, and because I used a Charms Creation I was also able to enter it over there as well.

Because of the PP I used as the base, I kept the rest pretty simple. I used the page runner from Charms Creations and a button made by me. Some twine, scraps of PP and a bit of paint. Oh and thickers by Amy Tangerine and American Crafts and the other alphas are by Lily Bee Design.

Am really happy with the way this turned out. Sometimes simple just really works.

Some gallery challenges

Ok, so far I have blogged one challenge at a time (not really sure why) but this time seeing as how I've uploaded these all to galleries with no links back to my blog, I thought why not blog them all at once. So here goes...

First up is a sketch challenge from Anna's Craft Cupboard. This is what it looked like

This is what I came up with

Obviously pics from Kyles seventh birthday a few months ago. I really like this page, the colours, all the washi, the machine stitching (once I blew all the dust off my poor old machine, she went like a dream) and at the moment I think this Crafter's Workshop template is my favourite. I used a D-Lish Scraps button and a WOW chipboard robot.

Next up is the sketch challenge from The Scrapbook Store

And this is how mine turned out

Again I quite like this one, must be the colours! I really like the chipboard football border I made too.

I used a Greatest View flair badge and a Rainbow Splendour star felt pop.

And my take

This photo was Kyles first bookweek character in kindy, just over two years ago. He kept roaring, much more like a tiger than a zebra I think!

I used scraps of PP, a couple of tags, some hessian (or burlap as I recently found it was called) and an Eye Candy Magic star pin.

123 Challenge

This month at 123 Challenge the requirements were

WORD: MAN or MEN

COLOUR: GREY

TECHNIQUE:

use something METAL

I really like grey so was a bit happy by the challenge. Then I came across the paper I used, which I really  liked but wasn't really sure what to do with it. Do I cover up the pattern? Do I scrap beside it? Anyhow, I played around for a little while and this is how it turned out

The photo is of my hubby and his daughter, Nikita, at her year 10 leaver's dinner. She looked beautiful! So grown up! 

I used washi as a background for my photo, a charms creation page runner and I tied a bow from some fabric, and added lots of pearls to the patterned side of the paper. I really didn't want to cover it up, it is quite pretty.

My title is a quote from the movie....yep you guessed it, Grease! I did give credit to 'Frenchy' at the bottom of the page, but a teeny bit has been cropped off.

The grey is obviously the paper I used, the word man is in my title and the metal I used was the heart clip in the corner of the photo, a couple of pins I stuck in the page runner and a brad from Stampin' up!

Scrap the Girls challenge

At Scrap the Girls this month the requirements for the challenge was to use action or sports photos. I had these cute photos of my gorgeous niece, Emilee, on a slide at the park, think they worked pretty well.

I've used paint, washi, scraps of PP, a Rainbow Splendour fuzzy flower wheel, a D-Lish Scraps flower and a Purple Pumpkin doily.

White with 1 challenge

I loved the challenge at White with1 this month - white + orange + black. Yes I know, a lot of people don't like orange. I'm not a big fan of the colour myself, but I quite like to scrap with it on boys pages. Not heaps of  it, just enough. This is what I came up with

Some pics of Kyle being a bit silly. Paint, washi tape, scraps (again) of patterned paper, twine, an Eye Candy Magic cloud, A Lil' Somethin' button which I stamped a star on with staz on, a Charms Creation star and a Greatest View badge.

Scrap the boys challenge

This month at Scrap the Boys they had a 'starting off point'. I've never come across a challenge like this before (that said, I have only been doing challenges for 3 months). You had to pretty much smear paint, spritz, ink, basically get messy with your base paper and that's the only rules. Easy hey? This is what it looked like -

This is what I came up with -

The photo is of my boy taken a couple of years ago after he spent his first night with his dad and pop at his pops fishing shack, he has lots of fun when he goes there.

Once again I used scraps of patterned paper and a couple of handmade embellies.

Stuck?! Sketches challenge

Well my first post worked, yay! So onto another now.

I played along again at Stuck?! Sketches this month, am loving sketch challenges at the moment, not too much thinking about where to put things, haha. Anyway this is what the sketch looked like -

When I first looked at the sketch, I automatically thought large photo through middle of the page. Instead I went against what was in my head, played around a bit and came up with this -

I used patterned paper as a base, been doing this a bit lately and really like the way most of them turn out. I also used washi (love that stuff), a dinosaur embellishment from rainbow splendour a star and cog from purple pumpkin.

First post and Kraft It Up challenge

Well here it is, my first blog post. Wish me luck, I have my fingers and toes crossed!

Seeing as this is my first post I thought I would start with a challenge from a site I haven't played along at before, so two firsts for me! Kraft It Up had a great colour challenge that I had the perfect photo for. Here's what I came up with...

I used scraps of patterned paper, a piece of corrugated cardboard, some twine, a charms creation and a d-lish scraps button.
